COVID-19 could have an impact on the repair of local dam

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – COVID-19 could have an impact on the repair of the Oktibbeha County Lake dam.

Supervisors recently voted to use American Recovery Plan Act money to make some of the repairs.

The vote came after recently finding out ARPA funds could be used for some repairs but not the whole project.

An engineering firm has completed an analysis to find out what type of work needs to be done.

The final report will determine how much money will be needed to make the repairs.

“It has taken a while to get to this point but at this point, we have got the analysis done. We have got funding dedicated for the repairs. So, right now I think the road is clear toward the repair of that dam,” said Supervisor Marvell Howard, District 3.

The dam remains drained with low water levels.
