Crash in Choctaw County leaves one dead

CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss (WCBI) – One person is dead after two 18-wheelers crash in Choctaw County.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the two big rigs collided head-on on Highway Nine near Marshall Road around 6 this morning.

Choctaw County Coroner Chris Coleman identified the deceased as 64-year-old James Rushing of Weir.

MHP said Rushing was traveling North on Highway 9 when his semi-truck crashed with the other 18-wheeler traveling South on the highway.

Officials said Rushing received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver received moderate injuries and was taken to Choctaw Medical Center in Ackerman.

The crash remains under investigation.
