Death toll from winter storm Fern rises in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – The death toll from Winter Storm Fern has risen to ten in Mississippi.

Three deaths were reported in Tate County in the last 24 hours. One death in Adams County, one in Jefferson County, and one in Warren  County have also been confirmed.

There are still around 106,000 homes and businesses without power across the state.

That’s down from a high of 180,000.

And, MEMA has received reports of 208 homes, five businesses, and seven farms damaged statewide. 20 public roads have sustained major damage, and 12 have been destroyed.

There are also 68 warming centers operating in 35 counties.
