Dry for Now, but Rain Is on the Way

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — We remain dry for now across the northeast corner of Mississippi, but rain is on the way this weekend for the first time in about twenty days.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny skies will persist through most of the day, though we could see a bit more cloud cover move in through the late afternoon and evening. The high temperature today is 82°. Afternoon dew points will stay in the 30s and low 40s, so the air will remain pretty dry for now. Calm winds will increase to 5 mph out of the east-northeast.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Cooling back down into the upper forties tonight, under a mostly clear sky. Winds will be calm through the night.

FRIDAY: Very warm again for tomorrow, with a high of 83°. Skies will be partly sunny through the day, with increasing clouds in the late afternoon and evening. While there is a very slight chance of an isolated shower later in the day, we likely won’t see rain across most of our area until Saturday. Calm winds increase to 5 mph out of the east.

THIS WEEKEND: Rain showers are likely for much of the weekend, especially from Saturday afternoon through around noon on Sunday. These showers should be pretty scattered, meaning it won’t be a total washout for Halloween — in fact, some areas locally may not see any rain at all. However, it’s a good idea to stay weather-aware and maybe grab an umbrella before heading out to trick-or-treat. There is a small possibility of isolated thunderstorms overnight on Saturday as well, but we’re not expecting anything severe. High temperatures will be in the mid-to-high 70s, with lows in the mid-to-high 50s.
