Elected officials and Co. workers come together for “Hands around the Courthouse”

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – April is County Government Month, and Lowndes County got the recognition off to an early start.
Elected officials and county workers came together for a breakfast and what they called “hands around the courthouse”.
Everyone joined hands for a moment of prayer and silence.
It also gave everyone a chance to see others they don’t always get to see, and in some cases, meet someone new.
District Five Supervisor Leroy Brooks said this and other events help boost morale and promote unity among the county’s employees and officials.
“We’re living in a world of great confusion and chaos, and inasmuch as we can’t solve all the world’s problems, we can continue to pary, and you know that in a season we’ll be fine. So, whenever we can just reach out and touch each other’s hands, you know, words of exaltation, it doesn’t hurt anything, and that’s the reason we wanted to add. That we’re all concerned about where we are in this country, and so this is our way of saying we are concerned,” said Brooks.
Today’s event was the first of several planned for the month.
