Families came out for a Day at Choctaw Lake
ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – The Choctaw County Partnership held its inaugural Day at Choctaw Lake.
The event was held in place of their Kids’ Fishing Rodeo. Through this event, the goal was to introduce children and families to the amenities of Choctaw Lake.
And show them that they have something they can get out and do, right in the county. There were activities teaching about archery, ATV safety, an electricity demonstration, kayaking, and more.
Children were split into groups, and each group rotated throughout the day to every exhibit and activity. But the biggest draw of the day is the swimming area at the lake.
Many families were able to experience a dip in the lake, cool off from the school year, and enjoy a kick-off to summer break. A lot of people took advantage of a great fishing day as well.
Community Engagement Coordinator Mattea Brock told WCBI that it was a great day overall and the event was a success.
“It has been a great success. We’ve had 10 different booths/exhibits, the Museum of Science came out, and a bunch of others. And then we had nine different activities like archery, fishing, and kayaking. We have over 100 participants, not including parents, grandparents, and guardians. And it’s just been an overall success,” Brock said.
