Five year sentence on immigration charges

A Honduran national with previous federal convictions has been sentenced to almost five years in prison on immigration charges. Friday’s Ramos Serrano also known as Carlos Roberto Galvez of El, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison today in Northern District Federal Court when Ramos Serrano was arrested by Blue Mountain police, it was discovered that he was in the country illegally.

Further investigation found that he had a previous federal conviction under an alias for his role in a methamphetamine conspiracy back in 2003. He previously been deported to Honduras on two separate occasions and never applied for permission to reenter the US legally. After his release on this conviction, if he remains in the country, he will be subject to one year post-release supervision.

But Immigration has placed a detainer on him and he will likely be deported again after his sentence is complete.
