Law enforcement honors memory of former Lowndes County sheriff

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Lowndes County Sheriff was laid to rest.

A long procession of law enforcement escorted “Ed” Prescott to his final resting place at Memorial Gardens.

He died on December 22.

Services were held at Fairview Baptist Church.

Prescott was the sheriff of Lowndes County from 1988 until 2000. He also served two terms as a Justice Court Judge.

The Lowndes County native was also one of the first employees of WCBI-TV when it went on air in 1956.

He was survived by two sons, a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Prescott was 89 years old.
