Lee County S.O. wasting no time enforcing county kratom ban

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is wasting no time acting on the county’s ban on kratom and synthetic kratom type products.

After receiving anonymous tips from the public, deputies and agents from the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit made two arrests on Thursday, October 1st.

Agents received reports that Brown’s Grocery on Highway 371 near Mooreville and County Line Store, sometimes called “The Yellow Store” on Highway 348 near Guntown were allegedly selling kratom products in violation of the county’s ban on the sale and possession of those products.

An employee of Brown’s Grocery was arrested and charged with Possession of Kratom and an alcohol violation in connection with Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control regulations.

An employee of County Line Store was arrested and also charged with Possession of Kratom.

Those charges are misdemeanors and will be handled in Lee County Justice Court
