Local church hosts “Fun Day” for students before school starts
WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point students return to school Monday, July 27, and one local church made sure they had one last day of fun before summer vacation ends.
Lee Memorial Seventh-Day Adventist Church hosted its “Back-to-School Fun Day” on Sunday, July 26.
There was free food, activities for the whole family, and a water slide, drivers could see as they traveled down the highway.
Church members said one of their main goals is to connect with the community.
“This is something that we like to do as much to do as much as possible because we want our kids to feel really good about going back to school. we prepare for them. sometimes we’re giving out clothes., sometimes we’re having things like this like our water slides, we have BBQ, hamburger, hotdogs, games on the inside,” said Lee Memorial SDA Church member Tracy Washington.
“I just thank God for letting us do this (type of) stuff and protecting us and watching over us,” said 8-year-old Noah Collins.
The Fun Day lasted from 1 to 4 p.m.
