Mississippi man charged with shooting at Tennessee officer

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a Mississippi man has been charged with shooting at a police officer during an attempted reckless driving arrest in Tennessee. Prosecutors say 23-year-old Elliott Griham was indicted Tuesday on charges including attempted first-degree murder and resisting official detention. Authorities say Griham was identified as a motorist who was driving into incoming traffic and nearly caused an accident in Memphis. Police say Griham shot a rifle at an officer during an attempted arrest. Police say the shots struck the officer’s car but missed the officer. Griham is from Olive Branch, Mississippi. His lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the charges.
