Moisture Returns to our Atmosphere
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — Southerly flow will bring some moisture back into our area starting today and continuing through the next few days. Still, we can expect another pleasant, sunny day, at least for today.
WEDNESDAY: The high temperature for today will be around 93°. While there may be a couple of passing clouds, skies will be sunny for most of the day. Winds will be from the south-southeast at 5 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear overnight, with a little bit of light cloud cover earlier in the night. The low temperature will be 65°, with southeasterly winds at 5 mph.
THURSDAY: Tomorrow’s high will be around 93°, but with more moisture in the atmosphere, it will feel a bit warmer. Heat index values may reach around 97° tomorrow afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny, with a few passing clouds, but there is a very small chance of an isolated shower or two. It will also be a bit of a breezy day with sustained winds out of the south-southeast at 5 to 15 mph, and wind gusts up to 20 mph.
FRIDAY/THIS WEEKEND: Rain chances ramp up as we get into the weekend, with some scattered showers moving through on Friday. As of publication, the main threat for rain looks to be later in the day Saturday through midday Sunday. While we’re not expecting any severe weather with this system, widely scattered thunder and lightning are possible. Temperatures will also drop as this system moves through, with highs only reaching the low eighties by Sunday.
