Monroe County native retires from his position as Colonel of MHP

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Monroe County native retired from his spot as the highest-ranked officer for MHP.

Randy Ginn was named Colonel of the Mississippi Highway Patrol in June of 2020.

Colonel Ginn served with the agency for 36 years.

Before being named Colonel of the patrol, he held the rank of Lt. Colonel as Chief of the uniformed division for four years.

Prior to that Ginn rose through the ranks and served as Captain for Troop G in Starkville from 2009-2013 and Northern Region Major from 2013-2016.

Colonel Ginn’s retirement is effective December 31.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Director Charles Haynes will take over as Colonel of MHP on January 1.
