More Record Temps
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Parts of NE Mississippi including the Golden Triangle broke new high temp records yesterday and some today. A cold front this weekend will finally bring temps back down to normal.
NEW RECORD TEMPS – Not only were records broken across the NE corner yesterday, but even a few were broken today or at least matched. Columbus has been smashing records as the new high was set today at 95. The previous record was 87 recorded in 1967. Tupelo also set a new record reaching 91, replacing 90 that was set in 2017.
TONIGHT & TOMORROW – Comfortable temps will continue tonight as temps reach the low 60’s, but some patchy smoke from nearby fires. Tomorrow will be another seasonably warm day, before we finally start to see a change. Another day of beautiful blue skies and sunshine, but annoying heat.
FINALLY FALL – Great news, the normal temps return as soon as Friday! The afternoon high starting Friday will cool into the low 80’s and getting as low as the upper 60’s for Saturday. The nice, cooler weather will linger into the start of next week as temps stay in the 70’s. This front is a dry front, so no rain will be a concern, but this will increase fire weather danger. Make sure to check your county for a Burn Ban and be careful not to light fires near dry vegetation for the next few days.
