Motorcyclist killed in a crash in Lowndes County has been identified

We now know the name of the motorcyclist killed in a crash in Lowndes County on Thursday.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant told WCBI that 57-year-old John Clardy of Alabama was riding a 2010 Harley-Davidson when a 2015 Range Rover collided at the intersection of Military and Black Creek Roads.

According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, it is believed that the Range Rover was traveling westbound on Military Road and was attempting to turn left onto Black Creek Road.

At the same time, the Harley was traveling eastbound on Military Road and entered the curve near the intersection.

The two vehicles collided.

Clardy died at the scene. The driver of the SUV had minor injuries.
