Ole Miss set to take on LSU & former Head Coach Lane Kiffin this Saturday
OXFORD, MS – The Ole Miss Rebels will be taking on the LSU Tigers this Saturday in Oxford just 9 months after former Rebel head coach Lane Kiffin left to take charge of the Tigers.
The game has drawn huge national recognition and has been one of the most anticipated games across the country this year. And as the hype for this game has been built, so has the hotel and ticket prices for the game. General Manager of Home2 Suites by Hilton Oxford Mario Nolan talked about the significance of this game.
“In Oxford, every gameday has been huge for the last couple of years,” said Nolan. But tremendously, this one is huge because of Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss and going to LSU, so it has been, I think people have circled this from about 7 months now.”
The current cheapest ticket for tomorrow’s matchup is sitting around $460 and hotel prices peaking in the thousands per night. While some hotels like Hilton in Oxford stayed generally the same with a night being as cheap as $400, those rooms have been booked since February. Hilton hotel rooms for LSU weekend became for sale February 13th of this year and went completely booked a week later on the 20th.
The Grove will be home to plenty of pre-kickoff shows, such as ESPN College Gameday, SEC Nation and Marty 7 McGee. So, at the end of the day between how big the game will be and all the national recognition, this makes the cost all worth it to fans like Mike Kress, who came all the way from California.
“I think it’s well worth the price,” said Kress. “I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow, all the hype and everything. I’m sure it’s going to live up to it. Got Gameday here tomorrow morning, so that’s going to be exciting. I think it’s going to be a great time. I’m looking forward to it.”
Kickoff for tomorrow is set for 6:30 on ABC.
