Outgoing state representative selected as new fire chief in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK/WCBI) – An outgoing state representative will soon be a fire chief.

Our state-wide news partner, WTOK, reported Michael Ted Evans will lead Meridian’s fire department.

He currently represents District 45, which covers portions of Winston, Kemper, Lauderdale, and Neshoba Counties.

The Meridian City Council made the selection on Tuesday night.

Evans did not seek re-election and lost the race for Kemper County Sheriff earlier this year.

Evans is a member of the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association.
