Rain likely Thursday night

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Temperatures stay near or above average the next several days. The main story is potentially multiple rain chances starting Thursday night!

THURSDAY: The day begins dry with a good deal of sunshine. Clouds slowly should overtake the region by afternoon, but residual dry air will take time to overcome. Most of the day should remain dry with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Widespread and locally heavy rain should overspread the region well after sunset, likely closer to 8-11p. Expect a steady rain for most of the night, resulting in (hopefully) at least a half inch of rain accumulation. A few storms are possible as well, but no severe weather is expected. Watch out for wind gusts over 25 mph at times, especially in areas north of US 82.

FRIDAY: Rain should move out early in the day, leaving the better part of the day dry and increasingly warm. Expect a high temperature near 70°. Additional rain is likely to redevelop Friday night.

WEEKEND: Rain looks likely for the first half of Saturday, tapering back to dry weather by afternoon. Sunday continues to look mostly dry, but a few lingering showers are possible in the morning.

NEXT WEEK: Looks like we’ll have a good amount of sun each day with highs in the low 60s on average. We don’t see any additional signs of major cold or rain chances through Wednesday.
