Record High Temperatures Possible Today
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — With high pressure dominating the weather pattern across most of the Southeast, it is going to be hot outside. Some areas might reach or exceed the record high temperature for today.
MONDAY: Today’s high temperature will get up to around 98°. This would tie the record high temperature for Columbus set in 2016. Heat index values could get up to around 106° this afternoon, with a heat advisory in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. across all our Mississippi counties. Skies will be sunny for most of the day, but there is a 20% chance of thunderstorms rolling through in the afternoon hours. Any rain or storms we get should be isolated in nature, though. Winds will be calm today.
MONDAY NIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear, with continuing calm winds. The low temperature overnight will be 73°.
TUESDAY: The high temperature will get up to around 100°, with a heat index value of 104°. It is possible that some areas to reach or break the record high temperature for tomorrow, too. Skies will be sunny all day, with just a few possible passing clouds. Winds will be out of the southeast at 5 mph.
