Senator Cindy Hyde Smith speaks at meeting for Lowndes Co. Republican Women

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Senate is in its Summer Summer recess, and some Senators are headed back to their home states.
That includes Mississippi’s junior Senator.
Senator Cindy Hyde Smith made a stop in Columbus today to speak at a meeting of the Lowndes County Republican Women.
Several area elected officials were also on-hand to hear from Smith.
She briefed those in attendance about the latest work going on in Congress.
She also managed to do a little campaigning while she was in town.
Cindy Hyde Smith is facing a tough challenge for re-election this year.
She faces off against 16th Judicial District Attorney Scott Colom in the November 3 General Election.
