Starkville city leaders hear from city residents
Encouraging community dialogue; that was the goal of a recent meeting in Starkville.
Ward Five Alderman William Pochop held a Town Hall Meeting at the Montgomery Bed and Breakfast.
The meeting also featured Starkville Utilities General Manager Edward Kemp.
Kemp shared information about a number of projects and intiatives goingon with the utility’s infrastructure.
There were also questions regarding plans to increase electric rates, the first such increase in a decade.
City leaders fielded questions on a variety of subjects, and, of course, the construction projects were a topic.
“We’re always hesitant to put a timeline onthings, things can change withthe weather, but, all going to plan, the projects on Main Street will be completed by the end of the year. The projects on Highway 182 will be completed by mid-2027, and there’s only a couple of sections left. But anything can happen, so we’re trying to make sure everyone has proper expectations.”
Pochop also brought up the recently started work on a skate park coming to the Starkville Sportsplex.
