Starkville Police Department sets up angel tree for area families

SPD will be taking donations for the angel tree until December 15.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Police officers see it all. Families in the middle of crisis, or just in need of a little extra help. That’s why officers with the Starkville Police Department wanted to help local families with Christmas wishes.

There’s an angel tree at the SPD office in downtown Starkville.

The department is collecting toys and other items for Christmas gifts for area children.

Sergeant Scotty Carrithers said officers want to bridge the gap for families and help provide gifts for a happy holiday.

“I think it is really important because they will be able to have presents for their children and they won’t be going out of pocket to break themselves and risk not being able to pay bills and things of that nature,” said Carrithers.

The Starkville Police Department will be taking donations for the angel tree until December 15.
