Typical Summer Days Ahead

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – After a week with above average temps, we’re finally near normal.

TODAY – This pattern starts today with the afternoon high peaking in the low 90’s around 91. The average high this time of year is around 93. Although it’s not the same oppressive heat from last week, it can still feel pretty hot today with a heat index around 101. Isolated to scattered showers and storms are expected as early as noon and peaking in the afternoon.

TOMORROW – Tomorrow will be very similar to the conditions today. Temps will peak around 92, so still near normal, and rain becomes a little more isolated. There is also another chance for the heat index to get up to 101 in some areas, but nothing for a heat alert.

THIS WEEK – The heat will begin to slightly change going into late this week. Temps will stay around the low 90’s and rain chances remain isolated until Friday. Very few showers are expected Friday which will allow temps to warm close to the mid 90’s and there may be the potential for a heat alert. The next biggest rain chance comes in around Sunday and will drop temps back to the low 90’s.
