Well-known Tupelo business donates to help athletes at Amory High

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A well-known Tupelo business is helping athletes at Amory High School.

Lisa Hawkins, owner of Room to Room Furniture, donated $20,000 to Amory Athletics. The high school football stadium and other parts of the school’s athletic facilities were destroyed during the March tornado.

Hawkins said area communities rallied around Tupelo when the city was hit by a tornado in 2014, and she wanted to do something to help the students at Amory High School.

“You never know when you will be in trouble, but we want to help our neighbors. They have been so good to us. We experienced the horror of tornadoes, but those kids, losing their field, their athletics, that’s so important to young people. So, we wanted to be able to give back a little bit,” said Hawkins.

An account has been established with The CREATE Foundation to help tornado victims in Amory and Monroe County.
