VERONA, Miss. (AP) – The Lee County Agri-Center in Verona will be used as a staging area in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1yRXAmn) the agreement between the county and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency was announced Monday. It was approved by the board of supervisors.

Emergency Management Director Lee Bowdry says with the agreement the Agri-Center will be an emergency logistical staging area for personnel and commodities by MEMA.

He says the amount of time the site would be used would depend on the duration of the disaster, according to the agreement.

In the agreement, MEMA would reimburse the county for the use of the center and any damages caused throughout the time the agency used the site.
