Video: Union County Fair Hosts First Stock Dog Trial
New Albany,Miss (WCBI) — Union county held their first stock dog trial on Saturday. Over forty dogs competed in four different classes. There were 15 handlers from six different states. Participants were timed as they moved through the obstacle course. Challenges included crawling through 30-inch culverts, going through mud, climbing a large round hay bale. There were also penalties for falling to meet times.
“The union county fair sheep dog trial is a gathering of members of the United States Border Collies Handling Association and the Local Mid-South Border Collie Handling Association. We have trials throughout the United States and this one here is at the Union County Fair. Were here to compete with our dogs for points to go to our National Finals, for prize money and for bragging rights of having the best Border Collies,” said Diane Barrentine, Faculty member Coach.
The Union County Fair starts next Monday July 14th and runs through Saturday.
