SPD Makes Arrest in Sunday Shooting Incident

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A Starkville man is behind bars in connection to a Sunday morning shooting.

According to a press release provided by the Starkville Police Department (SPD), officers arrested 26-year-old Justin Vaughn sometime after the alleged shooting in Starkville, which left one person wounded.

At about 3:44 p.m. Sunday morning, SPD officers responded to a possible shooting at 305 Everglade Ave. in Brooksville Gardens.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a gunshot victim, whose name has not been released. Emergency medical personnel took the victim to Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville for condition assessment, and was later taken to Tupelo for treatment at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Per the release, the victim currently is in stable condition and recovering.

Vaughn was charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $100,000.
