WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s officially spring time, but crews are working hard to recover dangerous potholes throughout Northeast Mississippi.

Thanks to the heavy snow fall that covered much of our area last month, roads have become a little more bumpy.  The heavy rain fall we’ve seen recently hasn’t helped road conditions.

Authorities say crews are working long days to patch up potholes that make driving more dangerous.

West Point’s Public Works Department Manager, Joey Wright, says right now, the fixes are only temporary.

The efforts have been dampened by the continuous rain fall in the past few weeks but once this wet weather moves out, roads will become smoother again.

” You got a crack or something in the road and the water gets into the crack, and it freezes. That’s what forms the pot hole. It’s going to be a lengthy process, as soon as it gets dry, quits raining, we’ll have that problem solved hopefully,” said Joey Wright.

Again it’s good to remember to slow down on the roads that have heavy damage.
