West Oktibbeha Elementary students have been busy for the last few weeks crafting posters.
Its part of a national school bus safety contest.
Pretty soon these posters will be judged and a fortunate fifth or sixth grader could have their masterpiece advanced to the regional level.
They could win a top prize of five hundred dollars.
Its adding up to them having a better handle on how to be safe while getting on and off the school bus.
“Don’t stand up to the bus when its parking because you never know when the bus driver is going to park,” said Destiny Vaughn, WOES Student.
“Sit down and don’t like walk on the bus while the bus driver is driving,” said Tyana Blair, WOES Student.
“Our bus driver, he might accidentally run off the road and stuff,” said Dakota Phelps, WOES Student.
The poster winner on the regional level gets to compete in New York for a one thousand dollar first place prize and bragging rights.
