Fire and Rescue responds to a gas leak in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Many drivers in Columbus had to take an alternate route this morning.

According to Columbus Fire Chief Duane Hughes, around 8:30 a.m. until around 11 a.m., Columbus Fire and Rescue responded to a natural gas leak on Military Road – extending to Black Creek Road.

The affected area was near Bethel Church.

Drivers had delays and had to take detours in order to avoid the gas leak and ensure safety.
