Columbus organization host free food gathering in Caledonia
CALEDONIA, Miss. (WCBI) – A local organization in Columbus is making sure to support and nourish the community with a food gathering.
The Turning It Around organization held its community dinner at the Caledonia Community Center.
Free food and drinks were given out to all of the attendees.
The non-profit organization strives to bring the community together and provide free services with community feedings.
They have had these events in Columbus, West Point, and now Lowndes County.
Jacquel Brown is Turning It Around’s Executive Director and Founder.
She said it is heartwarming to see how far the organization has come from just bringing awareness to gun violence to also giving out free food for the community.
“I wasn’t expecting it to bloom the way it has bloomed,” Brown said. “At the same time, I expect a bigger impact and more from Turning it Around. It makes me feel good, I am glad about it, and I am glad that we can do what we can do.”
Turning it Around is set to host future community events, such as a BBQ fundraiser in mid-May.
