Body recovered from Bay Springs Lake in Tishomingo Co.
TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A search that began Friday morning with an abandoned vehicle ended Saturday morning with the discovery of a body in Bay Springs Lake.
Early Friday morning a vehicle was found abandoned on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Bridge on Highway 30 in the Paden area of Tishomingo County.
Law enforcement and divers searched the area throughout the day on Friday, but did not find anyone.
A fisherman discovered a body in Bay Springs Lake about a mile and a half south of the bridge around 6 AM Saturday.
Tishomingo County Coroner Mack Wilemon has identified the person as Elaine Kerndt of Tupelo.
Kerndt’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
