Scorching Sunshine
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — Heat advisories remain in effect across the entire Southeast, and, bolstered by the forecast scorching sunshine, are projected to last through the weekend.
THURSDAY: Southwesterly flow remains in place for now, bringing some limited moisture into our area along with that excessive heat. The high temperature today will get to 98°, but that heat index value will have it feeling closer to 109°. Sunny conditions are in store for most of the day.
THURSDAY NIGHT: We won’t be feeling much relief from this intense heat overnight, with a low temperature of around 77°. Skies will be mostly clear.
FRIDAY: The high pressure system that has been retrograding across the Gulf will start tracking up toward the northwest, shifting our flow pattern to be more westerly. This will continue to bring our temperatures up going into the weekend. The high for tomorrow will be 98° with a peak heat index around 109°. Skies will be mostly sunny all day long.
