Heat alerts and storm potential

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Heat continues and moisture keeps us humid with rain chances through the end of the week.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Showers and storms will continue to be possible through the evening. Some becoming strong to severe. Temperatures overnight will drop into the middle 70s.

THURSDAY: It is going to be another hot day, with the chance for showers and storms. Afternoon high temperatures will be back in the upper 90s. Heat index values will push towards 110 again. A HEAT ADVISORY is in place from 11a-8p. There will be sun and clouds through most of the morning. By the afternoon, strong to severe storms could become possible. There is a Level 1 – Marginal risk for severe storms, with damaging wind gusts being the highest concern. Temperatures overnight return to the middle 70s.

FRIDAY: For the end of the week, conditions will stay hot, humid, and with possible rain through the day. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s. Showers and thunderstorms will likely pick up again in the afternoon to evening. Lows will be in the low to middle 70s to head into the weekend.
