DPS Commissioner Sean Tindell announces his run for MS Attorney General

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety wants to be the next Attorney General for the Magnolia State.

DPS Commissioner Sean Tindell announced he is running for the Attorney General’s seat. Current Attorney General Lynn Fitch recently announced she is running for Governor in 2027.

During a campaign stop in Tupelo, Tindell touted his experience in the legal system, as a former prosecutor, judge, and state senator. Tindell said he has a strong record of supporting law enforcement, fighting crime and defending conservative values.

He noted the recent FBI report that showed violent crimes are at their lowest levels in seventy years and says as Attorney General, he will be tough on crimes committed in Mississippi.

“Those that want to commit crimes we have to hold them accountable and then you think about the damage to the families and children in our communities when they are exposed to these things and so we are talking about drug traffickers, sexual predators, murderers, career criminals, we need to put them in jail and make sure they are not plaguing our communities and we need an Attorney General that will stand up for those things and understand what it means for families and victims and make sure these criminals are held accountable and they go to jail and stay in jail,” said Tindell.

Mississippi will hold primary elections for statewide offices in August of 2027, with the general election in November of that year.
