High Temps Not Going Anywhere
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — With heat advisories in effect across our entire area for this afternoon, the only way to escape these high temps will be by staying indoors in the air conditioning!
WEDNESDAY: The high temperature for today will be 98°, and the heat index value is likely to get up to at least 106° — but it will be feeling like at least 100° starting in the late morning hours and continuing into the evening. Abundant sunshine will be around all day long, with just a couple of passing clouds and east-southeasterly winds.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Conditions will be mostly clear, and it will still be feeling pretty warm. The overnight low temperature will be 76°. South-southeasterly winds at 5 mph will calm down later into the night.
THURSDAY: High temps are likely to get up to 98° again, with maximum heat index values around 106°. The current heat advisory continues into tomorrow — and through Saturday — for counties in Alabama as well as north of Highway 82 in Mississippi, but it is certainly possible a new advisory will be issued for tomorrow for our counties along and south of 82 as well. Skies will be mostly sunny, but there is a 20% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours. Winds will be out of the east at 5 mph.
