Christmas At The Mansion features a patriotic theme

“We are doing “A Star Spangled Christmas” and we are going to celebrate Mississippi’s story,” Reeves said.

This is the seventh year for First Lady Elee Reeves and her team to oversee Christmas at the Mansion.  A Star Spangled Christmas is about celebrating America on its 250^th birthday,  and also showcasing the unique contributions from Mississippi and artists from across the state can take part.

‘We would love for Mississippi artists to send in ornaments that show Mississippi’s story, our past, present or even what Mississippi’s future will represent so we would love to showcase those on the one live Christmas Tree in the Rose Parlor, and showcase their talent,  we have so much talent in Mississippi,” Mrs. Reeves said.

And for the second year in a row, Madden Gray, of M G and Company will help bring the vision and theme of A Star Spangled Christmas to live as he and a team of volunteers will decorate each room in the historic landmark.

‘It is all things America, Christmas, and Mississippi style as well, because Mississippi has its own style,  we will do Christmas elements, literature, some of Mississippi’s music, science, and promotion of artists,” Gray said.

While the Governor’s Mansion is being decorated, the Governor’s office at the Capitol will also be getting a special decorative touch.

‘I am going to take a spin on the history of Mississippi history and symbols of our beautiful state, Magnolias, Fleur De Lis, this office is beautiful, ornate fixtures,  I will take symbols and incorporate it in our Christmas,” said Lea Margaret Hamilton, owner of SoDelta Candle Company.

It will all be ready the first week in December.
