International Paper plant catches fire in Lowndes County
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Multiple fire departments respond to an industrial plant fire in Lowndes County.
Fire Coordinator Jim Robbins said they got called to International Paper off Cason Rd around 7:30 Monday night, September 22.
Industrial Fire & Rescue and Columbus Fire & Rescue assisted Lowndes County Volunteer Fire Department in putting out the flames.
When crews arrived on scene, the fire was in elevated positions.
Officials say outside structures of the plant caught fire.
No fire happened on the inside of the plant.
Firefighters kept the flames from reaching the main building.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
