SHANNON, Miss. (WCBI)-
The police chief of Shannon has resigned, citing what he says is a misuse of power by some city leaders.
During the Board of Alderman meeting Thursday night, Anthony Rogers submitted his letter of resignation.
Rogers provided a copy to WCBI and the letter said Rogers has been thinking about the issue for several months. It goes on to say that he has been investigating the quote ‘Misuse of power by certain individuals, some have worked here in the past, and others are still here. End of quote
Rogers went on to say that he felt he couldn’t properly do his job, without having to look over his shoulder.
The former chief says he has spoken with an outside agency, with no connection to the town of Shannon. The chief says that outside agency will determine whether the information he provided warrants any charges.
The chief’s resignation was effective immediately.
