Burning Up Outside

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — A ridging pattern with the high pressure system moving towards the northwest from the Gulf is keeping us dry — in terms of minimal rain and lower humidity  — but well above average in terms of temperature.

FRIDAY: Today’s high temperature will be around 98°, and the peak heat index value will get to and possibly exceed 109°. Sunshine is in store all day, with some passing clouds moving through closer to the later afternoon/evening hours. Winds are out of the west around 5 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT: There won’t be too much relief from the heat overnight, as dew points won’t change very much, making it feel a bit humid out. The low temperature will be 76, with calm winds.

SATURDAY: As westerly flow continues to move into and through our area, those temperatures will continue to rise. Across the board, highs in the triple digits are likely, around 101°, with heat index values likely to be 8-10 or more degrees warmer. Abundant sunshine will prevail for most of the day.
