City of Columbus to transform old Dial A Bus building into inventory control room

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Soon, Columbus employees will have a one-stop shop for supplies.

The City of Columbus is transforming the old Dial A Bus building into an inventory control room.

Mayor Stephen Jones said it saves the city money by repurposing the city-owned building and helps consolidate its resources.

Jones said the most worn-out parts of the building are being demolished, and the other half will be remodeled for storage space.

“It’s going to actually save us money because we’re going to order this in bulk and keeping in the facility, and then we’ll be sending it out to whatever department… Instead of every department ordering tissue, we would order it all at one place, and that gives us a better chance at keeping up with what the city is actually using,” said Mayor Stephen Jones.

The city expects the inventory control room to be complete in the next couple of months.
