Columbus hotel undergoing renovations under new ownership

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – You may have noticed demolition and construction over at the Columbus Inn and Suites on Highway 45.

The property is under new ownership and is receiving a makeover.

PGV Capital, a real estate firm based in Tampa Florida, purchased the property and is renovating it into an extended stay hotel.

There will be 96 rooms, each room with a full-size refrigerator, a stovetop for cooking, and either one king or two queen-sized beds.

CEO of PGV Capital Chris Clabby said that once complete the hotel will benefit economic development in the area and out-of-town travelers.

“The biggest request we’ve had is from contractors that are out in the Golden Triangle that are out doing a lot of work for Steel Dynamics or International Paper. So, they come in for the week. They like the ability to stay for the week. Cook their own meals. Not in a regular hotel -it feels more like home,” said Clabby.

Construction and clean-up were expected to be finished in a couple of weeks. When the dirt and scrap are removed, contractors will install a courtyard and a parking lot in the center of the property.
