Community Outreach honors the West Lowndes Elementary and High School’s principals

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Public school budgets are almost always tight, and that’s where the community often comes in to help.
For West Lowndes Elementary and High Schools, that help comes in the form of West Lowndes Community Outreach.
The organization provides access to resources, mentorships, and educational opportunities to increase students’ chances for academic success.
Today, the group also honored the men who help keep the school going, Elementary Principal Robert Sanders and High School Principal Antonio Magee.
“It really feels good. especially as a principal, when our community leaders come and visit our schools. I like to showcase our schools, because even our students need to see, because some of our members are leaders, are pastors of churches, and when they see familiar faces and see us working together, their principal and their pastor, or whoever, their mayor, then that makes a difference also,” said Magee.
West Lowndes High School maintained its C-Rating, but made significant gains in its test scores last year.
