Golden Triangle Development LINK announces Southwire operations expansion in Starkville
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A mainstay in the Starkville – Oktibbeha County industrial landscape is expanding its footprint.
The Golden Triangle Development LINK announced today that Southwire is expanding its operations in Starkville.
The wire and cable manufacturer will be adding 380,000 square feet to its current site, along with new machinery and related equipment to help it meet growing market demand.
The expansion represents an investment of $256 million, and it’s expected to create 128 new jobs.
The Starkville growth is part of a projected $2 billion company-wide expansion.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing financial assistance through its Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX program. The City of Starkville and Oktibbeha County are providing incentives as well.
“I love the fact that we have a longtime business here in town who has the desire to remain. You have new businesses coming in, and you love that, but it is something very fulfilling and validating about a business that has deep roots here and wants to remain here and expand here,” said Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill.
Construction for the Southwire Operations in Starkville is expected to start in late 2026 and set to reach full capacity in 2028.
