Hot and Humid August Continues

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — Southerly flow from the Gulf will continue to bring moisture to NE Mississippi, causing the high humidity and potential for afternoon thunderstorms to remain.

MONDAY: While the high temperature will peak around 95°, heat index values are likely to remain at or above 100° all afternoon, maxing out at 107°. Skies will be mostly sunny, except when those scattered afternoon/evening thunderstorms roll across our area. Winds will pick up a bit over the day to about 5 mph out of the southwest.

MONDAY NIGHT: A 10% chance of thunderstorms will linger early on, but any threat of precipitation will be gone before midnight.Partly cloudy conditions will prevail, with an overnight low temperature of 75°. It will remain rather humid and sticky outside overnight as well.

TUESDAY: Temperature will remain warm, with a high of 95° and a peak heat index of 107°. More cloud cover is expected for tomorrow, with mostly cloudy conditions in store, as well as that 30% chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
