Investigation underway after teenager was shot in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A teenager is shot in Columbus and police are trying to figure out how it happened.

Police Chief Joseph Daughtry says officers were called to 18th Street and 7th Avenue North on Sunday afternoon.

There was a report of gunfire in the area.

A short time later a 17-year-old boy showed up to Baptist Golden Triangle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Daughtry tells WCBI the teenager would not tell investigators who shot him or where it happened.

Now, CPD is trying to determine if the two calls are related.

If you have any information call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers or use the P3 Tips app.
