OCH Stays Under Local Control

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-  The citizens of Oktibbeha County have spoken, and they want to keep health care local.

Voters decided during Tuesday’s election, that OCH Regional Medical Center, will remain under local control.

4,000 votes were cast in favor of selling the hospital and more than 5,600 against it.

The issue was a controversial one, but hospital CEO Richard Hilton says he is ready to move forward and bring the community together with common goals for the hospital.

“There is a lot of expectations coming in the efforts for the sale. We will do our best to try to meet as many of those expectations as we can, and if we work together on that, maybe we can achieve a lot of those objections,” said Hilton.

More than 9, 800 voters cast ballots in the election.
