Pop-Up COVID-19 vaccination clinics to open in Oktibbeha and Panola Counties

JACKSON, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) –

Pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Oktibbeha and Panola counties are being facilitated by the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s RURAL Study and its partners.

The dates and locations for the one-day clinics are:

  • Sept. 28: 9 a.m. to noon, City Hall parking lot, 450 Quitman Ave., Crowder, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Patton Lane Community Civic Center, 133 Patton Lane, Batesville.
  • Sept. 29: 9 a.m. to noon, Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church parking lot, 601 Jones St., Crenshaw, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Sardis Public Library parking lot, 101 McLaurin St., Sardis.
  • Oct. 2: 9 a.m. to noon, Maben Medical Clinic parking lot, 49 Turner St., Maben.
  • Oct. 6: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blackjack Missionary Baptist Church, 4907 Blackjack Road, Starkville, and 5 to 7 p.m. 16th Section Missionary Baptist Church, 1515 Old West Point Road, Starkville.
  • Oct. 7: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., New Zion United Methodist Church, 2169 S. Montgomery St., Starkville, and 5 to 7 p.m., Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2257 Moor High Road, Crawford.

Community advisory boards, local physicians, churches and civic groups in the North Mississippi counties, along with UMMC, OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. North Mississippi Medical Center Clinic in Maben, Panola Medical Center in Batesville, MS State Medical Association and the MS State Department of Health partnered with RURAL, which stands for Risk Underlying Rural Areas Longitudinal Cohort Study., in offering the vaccination pop-ups.

The RURAL Study aims to address critical gaps in knowledge and understanding of heart, lung, blood and sleep disorders in rural counties in the southeastern U.S. With its mobile exam vehicle, RURAL Study investigators will travel to 10 rural counties in four states, including Oktibbeha and Panola Counties in Mississippi to research population health. The results will be used to improve outcomes.
