Rain expected into the weekend

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – The first system for rain will be in and across northern Mississippi Thursday night. Another system will be moving in overnight Friday and into Saturday. Bring on the drought relief.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Rain showers move into NE MS tonight, watching the timeline of 8-11p. We are expecting a steady rain fall for most of the night. With the extreme and exceptional drought levels continuing, there is hope for at least half an inch of rain. Fingers crossed for more! A few thunderstorms are possible as well, but no severe weather is expected. Temperatures tonight will be warmer, falling only into the upper 40s.

High temperatures will be reaching into the lower 70s. Additional rain is likely to redevelop Friday night, with a Gulf Low pressure system moving NE.

SATURDAY: Heavy rain showers start off the very early hours of our weekend, as the Gulf Low continues North through the state. Most of the rain should clear out by Saturday afternoon, leaving lingering cloud coverage behind.
