Sun Today, Storms Tomorrow
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — While the chance for showers remains limited for today, we will see some scattered storms tomorrow and Thursday, some of which may be severe.
TUESDAY: There will be some showers in the western part of Mississippi, in the Delta and near the Mississippi River. However, in northeast MS, we will have mostly sunny skies, although we can’t rule out that an isolated shower will shift further east into our area. The high temperature will be around 95°, with heat indices peaking around 101° with that abundant sunshine and increasing moisture in the air. Winds are out of the northwest at 5 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Conditions will be calm in the evening to early morning hours, with mostly clear skies. The low temperature will be around 73°. However, as sunrise approaches (around 5 a.m.), the chance for scattered thunderstorms starts to move into our area, marking the start of the marginal severe weather outlook.
WEDNESDAY: A marginal outlook for severe storms and potentially damaging wind gusts is in effect for the majority of our area (excluding portions of our easternmost counties). While thunderstorms won’t be occurring all day long, there is a 50% chance for some scattered showers and storms in the morning, afternoon, and evening/overnight hours. The high temperature will be around 95°, but the heat index could get up to 102°, aided by increased humidity from the moist environment. Sustained winds continue to be out of the northwest at around 5 mph.
